Devisme 1855 1st type 11mm revolver

Description

Devisme 1855 1st type 11mm revolver – with external hammer. Six shot cylinder, single action. Perfect piece, stamped with DV in circle. Low serial number – 85. Nice original box with lot of accessories.

Every chamber in cylinders has special rods inside (Thouvenin idea intended to flatten the balls against them – somewhat senseless idea in revolver I think). The cylinder had to be removed for loading. The balls or bullets were hammered inside with the device unscrewed from the butt.

Those revolvers were used by officers during French intervention in Mexico.
