Description

Starr 1858 .44 DA/SA revolver – one of about 23000 manufactured and used predominantly by North in American Civil War. Version in navy caliber was manufactured in 3000. DA Starrs had bad opinionm so finally in 1863 a SA only version was started. It was also manufactured in about 23000 pieces.

DA/SA mode is selected by small slider on the back of the trigger. In DA trigger rotates the cylinder and at the end of its movement releases the hammer. When SA mode is chosen movement of the trigger only rotates the cylinder, the hammer is released by tiny second trigger on the rear side of trigger guard. The cylinder will not rotate by cocking the hammer.

My example is in very good shape with lot of original blueing. It seems to be very well made. Bad opinions of Union soldiers will be verified on the range as soon as possible.
